Courage: In This Moment
This week in our Courage: The Heart of It All series, we’re exploring what happens when we stop trying to face the whole thing and just face what’s right in front of us.
Almost two thousand years ago, Marcus Aurelius wrote: “Don’t let your imagination be crushed by life as a whole. Stick with the situation at hand.”
It turns out he was onto something. Research from Harvard found that we spend nearly half our waking hours somewhere other than the present moment, and that wandering makes us less happy, not more.
The things that scare us most are usually big. But courage doesn’t ask us to take them on all at once. It asks us to take the next step. Just this one.
Coming soon… Watch the recoding here.

"Don't let your imagination be crushed by life as a whole. Don't try to picture everything bad that could possibly happen. Stick with the situation at hand, and ask, Why is this so unbearable? Why can't I endure it?' You'll be embarrassed to answer. Then remind yourself that past and future have no power over you."
- Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
