December 10th 2023: Messages: What We Send and What We Receive

“In my lifetime, I have never lived one day of peace in my country",
says Jose Miguel Sokoloff, an ad executive from Colombia.

At a time of year when advertising reaches a high pitch, urging us to purchase more and more material things, we’ll hear Jose tell how some creative, welcoming messages of light at Christmas helped thousands of guerilla fighters to put down their weapons. And we’ll think for a bit about what message(s) we wish to share, when, with whom, and how.
On Thursday evening, we’ll continue this thought of “messages of life and light” as we celebrate the season together, hanging our traditional silver stars on the tree in the hall, or wherever you wish in your home if you’re joining us online for Singing the Season.
