First Nations Study Group

FIRST NATIONS STUDY GROUP MEETS MONDAY MARCH 28th at 1:30 P.M.

Our focus will be on the indigenous peoples of Honduras and Berta Caceres, indigenous rights leader from the Lenka Region. She was winner of the 2015 Goldman Environmental Prize which is the world’s largest award honouring grassroots environmental activists. Berta was murdered on March 3rd, 2016. Because of Berta’s leadership a ten-Billion dollar dam project was pulled out of the Aguan Valley much to the dismay of the Honduran Oligarchy and powerful international investors.

Please join us to see the latest ‘newsreel’ on these events with Canadian journalist and documentary filmmaker, Jesse Freeston, who knew Berta personally.

All are welcome.
